The opening of a national retail chain here in GenSan can be considered momentous occasion, both for businesses in the city and for local consumers to have a new place to try buying products from. This new arrival is primarily a hardware and home improvement retailer, similar to almost countless other shops and centers already existing in GenSan. However, its status as a national chain with multiple stores across the country is sure to attract business for it. Its recent opening in GenSan was its golden 50th store in the Philippines, and Wilcon Depot is making sure to stay long.
ABS-CBN News reports that Wilcon Depot, a national home improvement chain that began in 1977, has opened its latest store last Friday, December 14, at Barangay Labangal here in GenSan. Covering an indoor sales area of around 12,000 square meters with thousands of local and international brands of hardware and household building and finishing materials, this is the fifth Wilcon Depot to open in Mindanao. The opening and ribbon-cutting ceremonies were presided over by Wilcon President-CEO Lorraine Belo-Cincochan and Senior Executive VP-COO Rosemarie Bosch-Ong. Representing the LGUs for Gensan and South Cotabato, respectively, are Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles, and 1st District Rep. Pedro Acharon Jr.
“We can’t wait to provide the local homeowners and builders in General Santos City the high-quality home improvement and construction needs and customer-focused shopping experience that Wilcon Depot offers,” remarked Wilcon SVP-Chief Operating Officer Rosemarie Ong on the grand opening of Wilcon Depot GenSan. And to encourage Generals to check out and sample their wares on the first day, the branch offered special discounts on selected products, giveaways with purchase and rewards for big spending. They also impressed on services and amenities onsite – free parking, tile cutting and home deliveries were available, along with a 3D-layout software design hub that helped customers visualize their planned home improvement projects when completed.
Wilcon President-CEO Belo-Cincochan spoke of their company bringing excellence and improvement in quality of living as can be provided by products and materials from Wilcon Depot, as it expands across Mindanao with their GenSan branch. She is also aware of the significance of their “golden” depot location adding, “The opening of our 50th milestone store is a testament of our unrelentless[sic] dedication to Filipino homebuilders.”
Other Wilcon Depot branches in Mindanao include Matina in Davao (2009), Butuan City and Cagayan de Oro in 2017, and Zamboanga City earlier in 2018. Visit the Wilcon Depot Inc. official website here. Store hours are 8 AM to 7 AM all week.
