Almost twelve months ago, in the middle of the 2017 GenSan Tuna Festival celebration, a new special event was held that had the potential to become an annual happening in the city. It was a fashion show that went beyond the basic concept and the expected usual styles. That was because “Arise Mindanao” was also a showcase of Mindanaoan culture and traditional fashion from the respectful vision of designer Jhun Ador, plus the evening’s models led by Shamcey Supsup. This year, Arise Mindanao 2 is also a sure go; it’s even taking place earlier; in fact, it’s actually happening tonight.
Jhun Ador is once again going to blend the past and the present together to make a beautiful vision of the future, through the Arise Mindanao 2 Neo-Ethnic Fashion Show, taking place this evening on Friday, July 6 at the Greenleaf Hotel. As before, this fusion fashion extravaganza and traditional cultural showcase is being held for a good cause, with the efforts of Jhun Ador and his associates being for the benefit of the “Dalan sa Kalambuan” Foundation, which promotes the interests and helps preserve the storied traditions of the ethnic groups that have called Mindanao home for centuries past.
One major contribution for the success of the original Arise Mindanao Fashion Show in September 2017 was the presence and participation of a major model for the event, fellow General and Miss Universe 2011 Third Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee. This time around, Jhun Ador is maximizing the star power for his featured models of the night. At their head is Binibining Pilipinas 2018 – Grand International Eva Patalinhug, accompanied by Miss Multinational 2017 Sophia Senoron, Miss Eco-International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla, Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehman, and Miss Hispanoamericana 2017 Wynwyn Marquez. Other featured designers include Archie Castillo presenting alongside Jhun Ador.
The Arise Mindanao 2 Neo-Ethnic Fashion Show will kick off tonight at 6 PM, and will be held at the Pandan Ballroom of the Greenleaf Hotel. Tickets for the event have been available since the previous month, and Jhun Ador is looking forward to dazzle the show’s guests from GenSan and the rest of the country with his creative styling coupled with the culture and traditions of his ancestors. Arise Mindanao 2 could also be considered a dry run for another, bigger event of the same name happening this August in Newark, New Jersey, with Rain Ramas as Artistic Director.
